The Powell Principles

The Powell Principles is Oren Harari's short business book setting out leadership lessons drawn from the public career of Colin Powell. It is a secondary account rather than a memoir: Harari, a management professor who had written a longer study of Powell, compiles a set of brief rules from Powell's speeches, briefings and public record, each presented with a short commentary and a practical application for managers. The best known of them concern the point at which a leader should decide on incomplete information, the treatment of dissent as a duty owed to the organisation, and the warning that the day people stop bringing a leader their problems is the day the leader has stopped leading.
Written from the public record for the book.
