Tippi: A Memoir

Tippi: A Memoir

by Tippi Hedren

Tippi: A Memoir is Tippi Hedren's account of her own life and career, written, as the publisher puts it, because for too long her story had been told by others through whispered gossip and tabloid headlines. Hedren describes her path from modelling into film, her casting by Alfred Hitchcock and the making of The Birds and Marnie, and she gives her own account of experiences on those sets which she says have not been described in her words before. She writes about working with Charlie Chaplin, about the actors she appeared alongside, and about the making of Roar, the film shot over years with untrained big cats, which she describes as one of the most demanding productions she took part in. She writes too about the years of raising a child while working, and about the commitment to animal welfare that led her to found a wildlife sanctuary, work she has continued for decades. The publisher presents the book as a first hand account by one of the best known figures of classic Hollywood, telling her story at last in her own words.

Written from the publisher description, William Morrow.
