Your Brain, Explained

Your Brain, Explained

by Marc Dingman

Your Brain, Explained is Marc Dingman's general introduction to neuroscience, published in 2019 with the subtitle How Neuroscience Reveals the Mysteries of Human Behavior. Dingman holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Penn State, where he teaches biobehavioral health, and is known for the short video series 2-Minute Neuroscience. The book is organised by everyday function rather than by anatomy, with chapters on sleep, memory, fear, language, pleasure, vision, movement and attention, and each begins with a case or a story before setting out what is known about the systems involved. Its declared aim is to give a lay reader the working vocabulary of the field, and it is careful to mark where explanations are provisional. It is an introductory trade book and is a route into the literature rather than a source for it.

Written from the public record for the book.
