What the 2020 paper proposed

The paper starts from the point that fake news is usually discussed as a threat at the level of society and that its effect on personal relationships has had less attention. It focuses on people who share a story without knowing or suspecting it is false. Sharing news can strengthen social bonds, the authors note, while sharing a false story can damage them.
