Marc Malmdorf Andersen

Marc Malmdorf Andersen is a researcher and first author of the 2020 field study of recreational fear at a haunted attraction.
Who they are
Andersen led the 2020 field study, written with Uffe Schjoedt, Henry Price, Fernando Rosas, Coltan Scrivner and Mathias Clasen. It followed 110 visitors to a haunted attraction, aged 12 to 57, with heart rate monitoring, video of the scare points and repeated self-reports.
Enjoyment followed an inverted U against fear. Feeling frightened tracked large changes in heart rate in a straight line, and enjoyment followed an inverted U with smaller fluctuations. He is also a co-author of the 2019 study of how visitors manage their own fear.
