Pupil workshops arm: six schools and 286 pupils, six workshops plus four further sessions, against an active control receiving the same amount of extra study-skills support without the mindset content; result plus 2 months in both English and maths, which the EEF states was NOT statistically significant and calls evidence of promise, with security weakened when one of the six recruited schools withdrew. Teacher training arm: 30 schools and 1,505 pupils, two half days of instruction; result 0 months in maths and minus 2 months in English, neither statistically significant. COSTS, straight from the EEF: pupil workshops 397 pounds per pupil per year over three years; teacher training 16 pounds per pupil per year over three years. The expensive arm is the one that moved, non-significantly, and the cheap arm did nothing.
