Problematic mobile phone and smartphone use scales: A systematic review
Harris, Regan, Schueler and Fields reviewed 78 scales developed over 13 years to measure excessive or problematic smartphone use, assessing theoretical foundations and psychometric properties. Many lacked adequate internal consistency and test-retest reliability, and many had little research behind their theoretical basis. They called for work to characterise problematic smartphone use and avoid redundant instruments.
