Does my contribution to your crowdfunding project matter?
Kuppuswamy and Bayus's 2017 paper in the Journal of Business Venturing examines how support for crowdfunding projects changes over time. The abstract reports that pledges rise as funding approaches the goal and drop sharply once the goal is reached, and that the goal-proximity effect is stronger when the project is close to its deadline, when its target is modest and when it has received little early backing.
