Development and validation of a smartphone addiction scale (SAS)
Kwon and colleagues built a smartphone addiction scale from a Korean internet addiction scale and smartphone-specific features. 197 adults aged 18 to 53 completed it with other questionnaires between November 2011 and January 2012. One subscale was removed, leaving six factors. The authors reported the scale as reliable and valid, correlated with the other addiction scales used, and different by self-reported smartphone addiction.
