Revisiting mental accounting classic paradigms: Replication Registered Report of the problems reviewed in Thaler

Li (2025) · Royal Society Open Science · Read the paper

Mengfei Li and Gilad Feldman ran a registered replication of seventeen classic mental accounting problems reviewed by Richard Thaler in 1999, with United States adults recruited online and about five hundred people per problem. Most problems were supported, a few gave mixed support and a few gave none. The authors also tested four predictions Thaler made but never tested, with similarly mixed results, and they share their materials, data and code openly.
