Digital detox: An effective solution in the smartphone era? A systematic literature review
PRISMA systematic review of seven databases, k = 21 studies, total N = 3,625, of which 12 were randomised controlled trials. the effects of digital detox interventions varied across outcomes (health and well-being, social relationships, self-control, performance): some studies found benefits, others found no effect, and some found negative consequences for well-being. A narrative synthesis with NO pooled effect size. Digital detox is defined as timeouts from electronic devices, completely or for specific subsets of use
