Psychological targeting
Sharp, Danenberg and Bellman comment on a study of psychological targeting of advertising using Facebook profiles, which reported results suggesting such targeting is effective. They argue that those findings do not show that psychological targeting is more effective than normal advertising. Psychological targeting means tailoring advertising messages to an individual's personality traits, and the original work drew on a large database linking people's Facebook Likes to personality.
