The influence of product aesthetics and usability over the course of time: a longitudinal field experiment
Sonderegger first author. A two-week field experiment with 60 mobile phone users crossed high and low aesthetics with high and low usability, measuring performance, perceived usability, perceived aesthetics and emotion at three points of exposure. The authors' main finding was that the benefit of an attractive product for perceived usability, reported in many earlier studies, began to wane as exposure time grew, and emotion behaved the same way.
