The contagious leader: Impact of the leader's mood on the mood of group members, group affective tone, and group processes

Sy (2005) · Journal of Applied Psychology · Read the paper

Sy, Cote and Saavedra drew on a mood contagion model and placed leaders in either a positive or a negative mood. Group members with positive-mood leaders reported more positive and less negative mood than members with negative-mood leaders. Their groups showed a more positive and less negative overall affective tone and showed more coordination and used less effort. The abstract also mentions task strategy and reports no result for it.
