Promoting new habits at work through implementation intentions
Trenz and Keith ran a 10-workday diary study with 72 employees trying to build a new work habit, half of whom also received training in implementation intentions. Habit automaticity predicted work engagement and goal progress; the training increased how often the habit was performed, which increased automaticity, with effects still present at follow-up; the training did not increase use of if-then planning in daily routines.
