DESIGN: 115 students (57 men, 58 women) transferring into Texas A&M in the Spring 2002 semester, paid thirty dollars, assessed one month before and one month after the transfer; a further 47 completed the first session but not the second and were excluded, so the analysed sample is 115 of 162 and attrition is about 29 per cent; for approximately 70 per cent the transfer meant moving to a new community.
