Todd Rose

Author of Collective Illusions (2022), which argues that groups often enact what few members want because each assumes the others want it.
Who they are
Rose replaces the established term pluralistic ignorance with his own, collective illusions, and applies it widely. His account of Asch's conformity studies is accurate on the original figures. His scale claims rest largely on polling he commissioned, which has not been independently replicated. A key moderator, that a single dissenter reduces conformity, appears in his notes rather than his text.
